Thumbs up Hyponic - Reputably superior doom metal from Hong Kong

Hyponic - Reputably superior doom metal from Hong Kong

Even I am not able to have the EP yet but I downloaded one sample on their website which was "Hymn to the Dark". The first the impression of the track was so xxxxing DARK! the heaviness mixed with the toally dead atmosphere, too bad I don't have the lyrics, if I could I think that I understand this song more. This time Hyponic slowed down their music alot from the previous ep "Black Sun", dramatically changed from a tradional doom/death to a pure deadly funeral doom! but still remain the style of Hyponic!

For more detail thought about this track, I can really feel it sounds like a ritual, sort of religious thing.(it is real religious or somekind of metaphor, I don't know until I got the lyrics)some part of the riffs introduce both clean and distorted guitar sound together results a totally dark, cold feeling and it's like you watching a progress of ritual in a evilish chapel and the vocal grunts sounds really like came through a deep cave, it gave you a fantastic matchness with the music and also make the music totally myst.

The production of the track also as good as the music itself, fucing SOLID!. Some people might think that it sounds blurry and over used reverbs but I can't agree with that becaue if this kind of music recording in a clear, mordening sounding would really destory the beauty of darkness. You can also refer some other funeral doom metal records.
Last words, If you are a Doom Metal fans and you loved Skepticism/Evoken/Esoteric alot! That you have to have Hyponic-The Noise of Time too! it won't be disappointed to you!

Cool Hyponic reviews!!

A bit odd to wait so long for the album to return to Hong Kong.
